C Connection (How does this connect to me, the world, or other texts I have read)
(T2S) Text to Self - The reader can relate the text to their life.
(T2T) Text to Text - The reader relate the text to something they have read before.
(T2W) Text to World - The reader can relate the text to the real world around them.
As your child reads they may use post it notes to mark the above codes and how they have made the connection. We are learning this process within fiction and non-fiction texts. Please encourage them to practice these codes as they read. We want them to ask who, what, where, when, and why as they read. Start encouraging your child to be a critical thinker!
